Background of the Study
Community media, as grassroots communication platforms, play a crucial role in addressing local issues, including education. In Ningi Local Government Area (LGA), Bauchi State, adult education programs benefit significantly from the support of community media, which provide accessible and culturally relevant content. Research by Bala and Abubakar (2023) highlights that community radio and local publications are effective in raising awareness, mobilizing participation, and disseminating educational materials. However, challenges such as funding constraints, limited reach, and low literacy levels often limit their impact. This study examines the role of community media in promoting adult education in Ningi LGA, focusing on their contributions, challenges, and potential for improvement.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite the efforts of community media, adult education programs in Ningi LGA face low participation rates and limited success. Factors such as inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and cultural resistance hinder the effectiveness of community media in reaching adult learners.
